Language learning blogs to stay up-to-date

Postby Stefan » Sun Sep 01, 2019 6:41 am

This forum is amazing but as with forums in general, it probably isn't the most efficient way to keep track of the latest news and development on language learning. So I'm curious if there's any general language learning blogs better suited for this.

I'm not talking about the current Benny Lewis style with generic "14 ways to say thank you" or "How Randal learned Thai". I'm also not after blogs re-publishing poorly written university press releases with "here's yet another study" without putting things into a wider context.

For example, the latest interesting thing I've seen was that LingQ added support for Netflix. So now you can import subtitles for an episode and read/translate them before watching the episode.

Maybe you need to start a blog on such? I'd read it.

I feel like blogging is dying out, which is sad since the "substitutes" like podcasts and Youtube channels just aren't as convenient as reading in many situations. The language learning bloggers I followed in the past have either stopped posting regularly, started just pandering to beginners and rehashing the same old ideas, or become very commercialised and focused on selling their products and whoring out iTalki affiliate links. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though!
