Learning a New Language

Postby LLearner » Mon Oct 16, 2017 4:03 pm

I want to learn Spanish and bring it up to a good level.

I have previously learned languages through the school system and with a bit of extra dedication I have brought them up to a very good level.

I am just wondering if anyone would have any suggestions as regards little things I could do in the meantime to start myself off. I have Duolingo and use it regularly. Should I start with listening, or learning vocabulary....

rdearman gave you the link to Spanish resources:

You also need to figure out what works for you - in terms not only of effective learning but that you also enjoy.
There is no "One True Path™ Language Method" - what works for you will be different than what works for me.

So, go look at a few threads and use that to determine your own path, and have fun!!

Just a few threads on method or strategy.

But really, choose something, use it with frequency and move on when you feel you aren't getting value from it.

(and enjoy it enough to stick to it!!)

What languages have you learned, how much time in school did you spend on them, and what did the 'extra dedication' consist of?
And I second zenmonkey's advice. A lot of roads lead to Rome, but the effectiveness of each depends on the individual. So study the options that are described in these pages.
