There's a difference between not knowing the difference and not caring I don't think any of our posts has proper dashes, unless someone happened to send their contribution in MS Word and it didn't become a mess. If anyone wants to use proper dashes, I don't object. I just care much more about consistency, to the point that I'd rather use " ' - everywhere than have a different formatting style in each post.

Please do not use "-" or " - " to represent an em dash. This makes it almost impossible for me to fix things using search and replace. If you use "--" or " -- ", it's trivially easy for me to convert.
The posts were almost unreadable, thanks to badly broken indentation and other layout problems. (These problems existed in the original HTML, and WordPress made it really hard to clean things up.) I've already spent spent like 3 hours of my life cleaning up the indentation and formatting, and there's still 5 or so more posts to do. The language profiles are amazingly good, and they deserve to be readable.
I'm also working on a language profile for Middle Egyptian, which is going to use correct typography and punctuation. I'm not going to go through and convert my work to use "--" everywhere. I'm happy to accept that some other posts might be inconsistent (though I'm happy to fix what I can when I have time).

I'm certainly not going to start edit wars, that's why I brought this up here I don't think any post actually uses -- right now.

Okay, so what's the next step after "Create pull request"?

Post here on the forum so people can proofread it, so you did exactly the right thing.
I submitted some feedback over on GitHub, including a small typo I found. I enjoyed the essay. And in the future, I would love to see more people propose their highly upvoted posts for the blog!

OK, I've gone ahead and posted it on the blog!
If anybody else finds any typos or other proofreading issues, we can fix it easily.
