Posting Anki add-ons here?

Postby arthaey » Mon Aug 03, 2015 6:22 am

I've just started using Anki and I've been hacking away at some add-ons. I thought y'all might be interested, but before I get all self-promotion-y on this board, I wanted to ask if that sort of thing would be welcome?

If so, I'll post about my two add-ons here. If not, hunt me down on Github if you're otherwise interested. :)

I'd love to hear about them. If self promotion is an issue within language learners, well, we are going to see a lot less posts.
More seriously - in my opinion, it isn't spam if you aren't selling something or if it isn't over-bearing. (Maybe the mods can clarify further.)

An Anki add on I'd like to see is one that works better for creating filtering tags decks, currently writing a string is frustrating and I often don't get it right.

You may share your open source language-learning tools!

Here are some basic rules of thumb for promoting your stuff. This isn't so much a list of official rules; it's more my personal observations about how we've handled these issues in the past.

  1. Don't just sign up to drop a link to your product, or you risk being perma-banned and blacklisted as a spammer.
  2. Long-standing members are welcome to share their free and/or open source language learning tools as long as they use a little common sense. :-)
  3. Long-standing members may also share their books and paid tools, but they should generally limit it to a single thread unless they've written an authoritative text on a given subject, and somebody is asking about that subject.
  4. If you're being paid to promote a product, we expect you to disclose your affiliation, or you risk an immediate and permanent ban.
There also tends to be a subjective factor: You'll get more leeway with all rules except (4) if the moderators or the community think your tool is awesome. You'll get less leeway if we think it's scammy, useless, or preying on naive language learners.
