Need to post on here more often, but I have been active in learning still.

I successfully read and cooked a recipe in Hindi yesterday without studying the recipe beforehand and I did not burn anything while trying to figure out the next steps. A year ago, I attempted this with a different recipe and had to write it all out in English because I was too slow.

I am very happy with my progress so far.

I am also now able to construct fairly complex sentences in Hindi with only a little difficulty, mostly with intransitive vs transitive verbs and oblique cases. For example, "Mujhe lagta hai ki jab hum car mei tab hum sirf hindi mei bolna chahiye" is how I constructed it but it should have been "Mujhe lagta hai ki jab hum car mei HAIN tab HUME sirf hindi mei bolna chahiye" is what I was told. I sometimes miss "hona - to be" in complex sentences but I am not sure way "we should only speak in hindi" is in the oblique but I THINK it is because of chahiye. I think if I had said "hum sirf hindi mei bolte h" then I would have been grammatically correct and it would not be in the oblique (though then it would not be a suggestion and would be "i think when we are in the car we only speak in Hindi" which is awkward and doesn't portray what I need it too. (I think when we are in the car we should only speak in Hindi.)

most to least recent. it is amazing to see how far i've progressed. i no longer struggle coming up with most of the words and can keep a flow when writing, substituting the english word when i'm not sure about the hindi word and looking the hindi word up later

Had a small conversation and ordered my food in Hindi today ~ I received the correct order so did okay! My boyfriend and I eded up receiving free dessert from it too (Shopkeeper was excited that I was learning Hindi and wanted to congratulate me on my progress). Pretty neat what language can do.
