16/02/2021:

Had to take some time off as I was nearing burnout - high volumes of work besides language learning combined with some (unpleasant) dental procedures takes its toll.

Used my time to revise the perfect tense of Dutch verbs, as I feel the last time I covered these in Colloquial Dutch I moved on far too quickly to have properly grasped the important bits (regular vs irregular, hebben vs zijn).

Will be back on track tomorrow.

Been really, really busy recently, so a summation of all of my work since my last entry:

Colloquial Dutch 1 completed up to page 100
Michel Thomas Foundation Dutch finished up to the end of CD7
Started redoing passive lessons for Assimil Dutch with Ease - completed lesson 15

I'm very torn between entering for the CNaVT A2 exam. On one hand, I believe I could prepare myself in time, and despite the pandemic I have been able to locate an examiner. But on the other hand I suffer pretty badly from imposter syndrome and self doubt, and often am bad at judging how valid such feelings are :|

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

27/02/2021:

Colloquial Dutch 1 completed up to page 117
Michel Thomas Foundation course completed (second run-through to commence tomorrow)
Assimil Dutch with Ease lesson 16 (passive completed)

Decided I'm going to enter the A2 exam - I've got more than enough time to get up to scratch. I'm probably about 50% of the way there content wise, and I've got a real chance to step up my studying over the next few weeks, which I would be foolish not to try.

Preparation goals:
Complete Colloquial Dutch 1
Complete a second run-through of MT Foundation Dutch
Complete Assimil Dutch with Ease (again)
As much reading as possible (I've got lots of reading material so not much of a problem)

Stretch:
Complete Colloquial Dutch 2
Complete two run-throughs of MT Advanced Dutch

Up to page 125 in Colloquial Dutch 1 - officially past the halfway point

Want to keep up with a pace of 10 pages a day when I'm not working (usually done in two goes of 5) and 5 pages a day when I am working

Tempted just to use Assimil for passive listening practise at the moment as adding active work on top might burn me out pretty fast

02/03/2021:

Completed Assimil lessons 18 and 19 (passive)
Completed Michel Thomas Foundation CD-1 for second run through

Entered the CNaVT A2 exam, now it's a matter of doing as much prep as possible. (Was pleasantly surprised to find out candidates were allowed a dictionary for everything except the speaking part.)

Plan is to finish Colloquial Dutch 1 and two run throughs of each MT course. Will try to complete as much of Assimil as possible too and still use my reader collection regularly.

03/03/2021:

Colloquial Dutch up to page 142 (Chapter 10)
Assimil Dutch with Ease up to lesson 20 (passive)
Michel Thomas Foundation Dutch to end of CD 2 (second run through)

Going by the earliest case scenario, I've got 8 weeks to prepare for the exam. Plan is to keep going with Colloquial and MT as normal.

Plan for Assimil is to complete active waves for 14-20, then work in a system of three lessons per day (passive) for a total of 18 lessons, before doing the active waves for those lessons (review lessons every seven days not counted here).

Reading using graded readers is done whenever I have some free time, minimum one story before bed.

04/03/2021:

Colloquial Dutch up to page 150
Assimil Dutch with ease lessons 15, 16 and 17 active wave
Michel Thomas Foundation Dutch CD 3 (second run through) completed [made some small errors but that was more due to lack of concentration]

If I keep current pace up, should be finished with Colloquial Dutch 1 by mid-March. Debating whether or not I should move onto Colloquial Dutch 2 or do a similar levelled course like Hugo after.
