How do people judge the difficulty of a language they’re studying?

Randomly and subjectively.

TIL The maximum score for This is Spinal Tap goes up to 11 in IMDB (in case ratings need that extra push over the cliff in Amazon)! 8-)

Q: When is the best time to "park" a language?
A: Parking is not permitted on weekends. Parking bans are also often instituted in case of inclement weather.
Q: Simplified Chinese?
A: Clearly not simplified enough for me.
A: That's not a question. Unless you're trying to ask "How does one ask questions in simplified Chinese", in which case one would be advised to rephrase.
Q: Would these materials cover most of the vocabulary and grammar of the 4 volumes of FSI?
A: If you had the FSI course digitally, say on a thumbdrive, it wouldn't take more than a piece of paper to cover it. If you have it all in four print volumes, however, it would require a good bit more resources to successfully cover all those books.
Q: Which and how many languages are spoken in your family?
A: Related ones
Q: Persian definite and indefinite articles, or lack thereof?
A: Definitely.
Q: How do you communicate with your pet?
A: Poorly
