My friends in France were devastated by the Notre Dame fire.

This is one 3 D version of Notre Dame before the fire but I hear the one done by a Vassar College professor is spectacular.

This is a partial clip of the Vassar 3 D scan:

If someone can find better 3D by all means post it.

My favorite French chapel Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Haut de Ronchamp is very different. I have been in it and love it:

There are 4 official sites where you can donate money to help rebuild Notre-Dame, if you're interested.

It's probably about time I joined this group! I've studied French on and off for... my whole life? I'm currently doing the 365 Day Challenge, and haven't missed a day yet, which is probably the most consistency I have ever had in language learning. Hooray!

My level is hard to pinpoint. I can read YA novels, news articles, and other simple texts. I can understand Peppa Pig. Any audio more complicated than that, I have trouble following, which is one of the main things I'm working on right now. If I try to have a conversation, I freeze up. But, since I'm seeing such good progress in my reading, and some in my listening as well, I'm hoping this will gradually translate into improvements in my active skills.

Currently my main activities are reading and watching movies/TV, but I also do L-R, Duolingo, Memrise, and grammar exercises.

My log is here. I look forward to learning with you all! :D

Somehow it hadn't really occurred to me that there aren't French immersion schools in the U.S.! Here in Canada they're everywhere. I could have gone to one, but my parents asked me if I wanted to when I was 5 and I said no (because I imagined a terrifying experience where everyone spoke French but me, lol). I had perhaps a little too much say in big decisions, for a 5 year old.

Lyrics Translate

Postby tomgosse » Tue May 14, 2019 11:26 pm

Hi all,

I just came across this site which provides lyrics for French songs. It also provides translations of the song into English as well as other languages. Here is a link to one of my favourite singers, Zaz (Isabelle Geffroy). I hope that you enjoy it. I do.
