How do you learn Hungarian plurals?
So Hungarian plurals are very confusing to me. Some have a pattern but most words do not. Do you treat these like noun genders and just learn them with the singular or is there a small list of exceptions you can go through? Someone suggested learning the accusative since the plural mostly corresponds to it. I would love some advice. Thanks!

As I have never studied Hungarian, I cannot answer your question. Hopefully, Chung, the resident expert in this language, will see your post and reply (you might try sending him a Private Message drawing his attention to your post). In the meantime, ...
In the event that you are not already aware of its existence, here is the LINK to the Hungarian Profile: http://www.language-learners.org/language-descriptions/hungarian-language-profile/ While it does not have any advice directly related to your answer, it does contain a great deal of ancillary information on Hungarian, tips for learning, links to other websites, et cetera.

I put Hungarian on the backburner a long time ago, and only got a little bit into it, but isn't it always just -k with the appropriate vowel? If the vowels are what's throwing you off, then you just need to master the rules on vowel harmony.

It's more complicated and irregular than that unfortunately. They require a linking vowel but it's usually irregular to which vowel you use.

This site has a detailed explanation. There doesn't seem to be a short cut to learning the plural, though.

Exactly. So back to my original question. What's the best way to go about learning them. Learning each plural with the singular? Or maybe there is a list of all the words that dont follow some sort of pattern out there? I have a grammar book but it is a little complicated.

But seriously, @Chung might know. Or Reddit. Not many people have tried learning Hungarian here from my memory.

Re: How do you learn Hungarian plurals?
My friend made this website that might help. https://magyartanulas.github.io/accusative_plurals/
I find the plurals to be mostly straightforward, although there are a few that don't follow the rules. I use the MagyarOK textbooks and they have a glossary with the word endings in the plural and accusative endings that make it easy to study from. For example, the word feladat is written with ~ok, ~ot to show the plural and accusative endings.
