Luckily together with "Spellfire" I also bought a collection of short stories from the Forgotten Realms series that was easier to read.

I never got round to reading novels from the The Realms or Dragonlance series, but I did somehow manage to carve, cast, and cajole my way through a glittering hoard of PC fantasy adventure games based on these titles back in high school (and my inner geek secretly misses those coveted silver and gold boxes still!) I can heartily thank this genre of fiction, along with a vast treasure house of text-based and multimedia tongue-in-cheek adventure games, for some of my most arcane and esoteric vocabulary to date.
