How is the beginning of 2019 going for everyone?

I haven't done too much Russian yet, but I have been listening to the podcast Newочём, which does short episodes - mostly translations of articles on various productivity themes (goals, resolutions, etc). I find them very easy because they're translations and I like that they are short. I also have another few podcasts downloaded, so hopefully will listen to one of them this week. I am also slowly slowly plugging away at my translated fantasy novel on LWT.

I swear I will have some native content at some point this year! But for now, this is what I have and it's working.

Really want to learn Arabic and Amharic.

Not too bad. As I already have mentioned in my log, I have been listening to/watching the videos on the Youtube channel Энциклоп. It is by a young Russian called Arsen Klinichev and he has made several videos about languages, a bit in the style of those Paul do over on Langfocus, but in Russian instead of English.

I'm also plugging away with my book about Classical Music, and I am tempted to try to read Crime and Punishment in the original. I now have it as an audiobook, so maybe combining listening and reading it in parallel.

Eh, not fantastic. I passed Russian A2.1 last year, but did the absolute minimum amount of work. I was completely burned out (in a general sense, not just languages) and did no more studying after the exam early December.

I'm leaving to Saint Petersburg on Monday, where we'll be having classes in the morning and hopefully plenty of opportunity to speak, but I'm feeling unprepared (at least I'm not alone in that  ). Normal classes start again in February.

Lucky you, going to Saint Petersburg! It is on my list of places I really have to visit one day. Are you staying there for long?

There is no truer meme on the internet, except maybe for the "Russian cursive hurts my head" meme.

Terrifyingly, we are now in February. How did everyone's Russian Study go in January?

Mine was... limited. I finished reading one YA book, so I'm hoping that gets me a bit more back in the Russian habit. Definitely need to find some options for the SC though!

Mine went well, in that I managed to do at least 30 minutes every day. But not so well, in that I'm not sure I've ended the month knowing more Russian than when I started

I have, however, booked my first holiday to Russia for June, so now I definitely have increased motivation to keep studying!
