You can sign me up for the following "generic" super-coalition of languages in 2019 (Jan 1 - Dec 31, Hawaiʻi standard time): French, German, Hawaiian, Irish, Japanese, Middle Egyptian, New Zealand Sign Language, Persian, Russian, Spanish, and Zulu.

Shall do Teango, and good luck!

And I'm wondering if you've raised a point. This is a 365 Day Challenge... the finish date should be 365 days from the competition start date (including the day you star), so Jan 1st does not make sense as a finish date, Dec 31st does. Hmmm, i'll amend this when I'm feeling up to it, as one additional new rule tonight will suffice.

Yes, I want to keep my scores separate, but to be able to count English as generic.

For example:
jan 1 - 30 min of English, 30 min of other languages
jan 2 - 30 min of English, 30 min of other languages
jan 3 - 30 min of English, less than 30 min of other languages. counting English as generic but the English streak is broken now
jan 4 - 1 hour of English: 30 min as English, 30 min as generic

(That's not a desirable situation for me, as I said I want to count English separately in order to motivate me to do other languages as well)

Can I start today instead of yesterday too? I had underestimated the consequences of the 31st...

2.1.2019 is a good starting date.

I like to join this challenge for Korean. As long as I can keep consistent with my studies, that's good enough with me.

:D

Hi chamomile232,
No probs, now since we're into new year I need to ask you for your start date. If you did more than 30 minutes of Korean on 1st Jan, I can sign you up for that date. If you didn't, you'll be on the 2nd (or a date of your choice somewhere in January) and your end date will be one year later on the same date in Jan 2020. Edit: I've decided to write you in for Jan 2nd, but if this is incorrect, please let me know.

Yes, I did study more than 30 minutes on January 1st. So you can count me from January 1st until the end of the year.

Sign me up for Croatian and French, I was already planning on doing at least that much on a daily basis. I already started yesterday January 1st.

Sounds reasonable, English will just be in both your Generic group and separate. No probs.

Please note I had made some errors in the rules regarding the competition end date (just an oversight).

Stupid me, I hadn't realised until Teango made me take notice... this competition runs for 365 days!
, so... you don't actually finish on the same day the following year, but the day before!

Some examples:

If you begin on Jan 1st 2019 your last day of study will be Dec 31st 2019.

If you begin on Jan 2nd 2019, your last day of study will be Jan 1st 2020.

If you begin on Jan 25th 2019, your last day of study will be Jan 24th 2020.

If you begin on March 2nd 2019, your final day of study will be Jan 31st 2020, as this is the final date of the competition.

I am mindful of the fact that no actual prize has been designated for the winner. I note Brun Ugle may have mentioned something about pizza in the 2019 New Year's Resolution thread. Accordingly, if when I win this challenge, I am giving myself a pizza. I am riding the wave of one day's worth of momentum already in this challege and feeling pretty good about my chances. Victory, and a pizza, are mine!
