Anyone else having problem with 6play.fr and VPN? They recently uploaded Tintin - Le lotus bleu which is the only episode I'm still missing subtitles for but now they claim geo-restriction despite me using a French IP.

Thank you. Sadly it seems as they have cracked down on VPNs.

I find I have lots of work to do when it comes to mastering genders of French nouns and there are many lists out there that give helpful suggestions to make it easier. Here is one that my French teacher (from Strasbourg) sent me to help in my efforts:

Re: Le groupe français 2016 - 2018 Les Voyageurs
Major Announcement,
About 3 months ago when I posted my Dialang test results smallwhite very correctly pointed out that I had not posted the results for the structure or grammar part of it. Since then i have been studying quite hard to take that test and today I took it and got a B1, which is what I was shooting for.
So, now I have B1 in all my Dialang tests and will switch my profile to reflect that.
My thanks to everyone on the Forum for their contributions.

Upon scrambling up to B1 in French, I confess to not having discovered a really good grammar book.
French grammar books I own:
French Grammar, A Complete Reference Guide-too abbreviated
Bescherelle--conjugation only; too abbreviated
French Verbs and Essentials of Grammar by Simone Oudot-too abbreviated.
Essential French Grammar by Seymour Resnick-too abbreviated
French DeMystified by Annie Heminway-too abbreviated
The Ultimate French Review and Practice by Stillman and Gordon*
This last one is the best book I could find, but surely there is a better one that has greater depth and breadth.
Please tell me the best and most comprehensive French grammar book out there, because I definitely don’t know it.
Note: Everyone recommends highly:
Grammaire Progressive Du Francais: Niveau Debutant (French Edition)
or
Grammaire Progressive Du Francais - Nouvelle Edition: Livre Intermediaire 3e Edition + Cd-audio (Collec Progress) (French Edition) (French) by Gregoire (Author), Cle International (Editor)
But.......they are in French. I want something I can understand first in English in order to understand the French grammar.

Re: Le groupe français 2016 - 2018 Les Voyageurs
First of all, congratulations! And your log makes for very interesting reading.
Second, a little clarification: My French skills are skewed towards reading, so most probably your overall level would be much higher than mine. I have leafed through many French grammars but the only one I used systematically was a now-out-of-print, smaller grammar by Teach Yourself.
As far as I know, French teachers’ favourite is the Le bon usage (“Grevisse”). It’s a hefty volume of some 1700 pages, so in my opinion, the abridged version, Le petit Grevisse would be a better option for us learners. I also like Nouvelle grammaire du français: Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne. There are a few other more comprehensive grammars but I haven’t examined them in detail.
In English, probably the most widely used are the following:
1. French Grammar and Usage (Routledge Reference Grammars)
2. A Comprehensive French Grammar (Blackwell Reference Grammars)
3. Modern French Grammar: A Practical Guide (Routledge)
All three books have accompanying workbooks, and the first one may be cheaper to buy as a pack with the workbook. As there are different editions be careful when you buy them especially with the first one which is frequently reissued.
I had some trouble embedding the links, so I have given all the links below. Maybe I will get back and fix them later. Sorry about that.
