Just in case you have not come across this yet:
"La aventura del saber" on Spanish state TV and TVE Internacional.
Past programmes are available in their archive, subtitles for the complete one hour-long programme, yet not for the clips.
Here is one clip, on the Beowulf poem:

full hour:

and downloadable with separate subtitles:

Actually I hadn't - so thanks for that :)

And that site is a great tool - I think I thanked you for it when you posted it before but if I didn't - Thanks again! It's saved me a lot of mucking about. The RTVE site is better than it was, so I do often watch stuff from the "alacarta" section direct but occasionally I like having an offline copy on my tablet when I'm away as other people's wifi often isn't great.

It's been quite a while since I managed to get the time to post some sort of update. Work has been a nightmare the last few months to the point where at the end of June I subscribed to another month of Kwiziq to complete the lessons added since I completed everything available last time. At the weekend, I ended cancelling the auto-renewal having done pretty much nothing with it in a month. I bought the second-stage Spanish course from Linguaphone a few weeks back since it was (and still is) half price. It has pretty much stayed in its box since I've had no time to look at it. I had been working through Gramatica de uso del Espanol but I've had to put that on hold.

As you can see, I've not been able to do much to work on my active Spanish skills but passive hasn't been too bad. Thank God for Love Island! Because while my wife watches that, it's Netflix time for me! That and reading has kept me sane.

There is, however, light at the end of the tunnel. Today is my last day at work for two and a half weeks. Tomorrow, we travel to the airport and Thursday morning we fly out to Málaga. A couple of nights in the city in a hotel and then it's east up to the coast to La Herradura for two weeks in a villa with some friends. I can't wait. Málaga is a fantastic place to visit; it's unfortunate that for most people, it's the airport and then onwards to other parts of the region. I haven't been there for over ten years, so I'm really looking forward to it.

And now for something completely different...

Apparently it's been over two years I last posted anything on my log. In that time, there's been precious little new.... just maintaining my French and Spanish to some sort of level of mild (in)competence.... until now...

Recently, we were meant to be holidaying in Tenerife but as the Canary Islands ended up on the "no-fly" list, we ended up re-booking and going to the Island of Rhodes and a marvellous time was had by one and all.

Having been embarrassed by my total lack of Greek apart from the usual "kalimera", "kalispera" and "efharisto" (apologies for the transliteration - it's early days), I've decided to give Modern Greek a whirl.

I thought I'd start with the Modern Greek Resources on this forum and was somewhat disconcerted to be presented with this:

https://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=10302

"confiscated" not being a language course I'm familiar with.... :(

Still never mind..... Language Transfer Greek beckoned and that's what I've started with. A forum search also elicited the "Modern Greek Study Group" with some additional pointers...

And there's always my usual go-to ... Assimil. We'll see how it goes.
