( I swear it's the first time I'm opening this thread and I wasn't around the corner, waiting for the letter B to come up )

BRAZIL is the largest country in South America. It's a great place to learn Brazilian Portuguese and the only place in the world where you can learn indigenous languages like Xavante, if you move towards the North ( Shame on me, I'm not doing this. I have Xavante speakers studying with me in my university, I don't even have to travel somewhere ). But if you'd rather go towards the South, there are also some little German expat cities over there like Pomerode, where people actually speak German up to this day ( I don't know if that's true for the Chinatowns over here, though; I've never been there ). For better or worse, most people are monolinguals. Some people speak English ( sort of ) but you definitely can't rely on that to survive if you're outside São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or other tourist destination. Now I'll post a picture of the Cataratas do Iguaçu ( Iguazu Falls ) because I thought I'd make a nice pair with the waterfall picture from Zimbabwe which was already posted. I can hardly think of another country where nature may be just as beautiful as it's here.

PS: Je souhaite that the irony in this description de la France be tellement self evident that I can avoid que le ciel tombe sur ma tête (as mister Abraracourcix toujours dit in Astérix)

I have to make a very important correction, the name of the country, both in English and Spanish, is Colombia, with an O. Colombians get upset at that error, and some of then might even take offence (and rightly so, After all, nobody likes that people misspell one's country name).

The letter after G is H, and there aren't many countries that start with that letter. But I have been in one of them - Honduras. Twice, once from the North, once from the South. Probably not the safest country in the world, but at least the war against Nicaragua had stopped when I arrived in 2003.
