Venezuela is another country in Latin America, where Spanish is the important official language, but the people speak over 30 languages, which the government recognises. It seems veyr beautiful with wonderful beaches, but it is a violent country with a lot of murders and kidnaps. Caracas is the capital with about 5 million habitants, and there are 33 million in the country. Venezuela has oil reserves which are veyr large.

Right now there is no country whose name starts with a W - but about twenty years ago the country now called Samoa was called Western Samoa so that'll have to make do for now. And you may ask: wotsup with Eastern Samoa? Well, that's ruled by USA so it's not a country.

I haven't visited Samoa (yet), and it is very far away so it will cost a lot of time and money to go there. But I know a few things about the place. For instance it is very near the international date line so if you want to have two Sundays in a week this isn't a bad place to start. The inhabitants speak English and a local Polynesian language. They produce coconuts and dried coconut (copal) and bananas, and because of this diet I guess the beautiful people tend to be slightly roundish, just as those on Tonga. At least that's what some people in my travel club who have visited the place have told me.

... so the country game got stuck when it reached X? There are probably towns, but no countries that start with an X in English. Luckily Vogeltje didn't exclude country names in other languages, and luckily there are languages which don't spell country names the way they are spelled in English. Catalan... save us!

Natives would always use "inhabitants" here, not "habitants". They mean the same thing, but habitants just doesn't sound natural. It's probably also better to say "in the country as a whole". It makes the sentence more readable because:
1. "country" can refer to non-city areas rather than a nation (eg "while most Australians live in the city, a significant proportion live in the country")
2. Since you already mentioned Caracas it feels like the next bit shouldn't include Caracas unless you say "as a whole" or something similar.

Wow. I am amazed that I understood a lot of that Catalan paragraph, with a mere 2 months of Spanish under my belt. Awesome.

Australia is famous because of the birds and animals who live there, but they don't live in other places, like the lyrebird, kookaburra, koala and kangaroo:

Australia has 6 climactic zones:

Most Australians are of British or Irish ethnic origin, but the Aboriginal people lived there before the colonisation. The country hasn't got an official language, but of course mostly it's English. In 2013 Australia had 23 million inhabitants and some visit this forum, for example Psittacus and Extralean :)
