I thought it was time to give a summary of this study. However, it isn't possible. The only people who have participated are three members of the control group. The only real conclusion I can draw from the study is that people will study the way they want. The three members of the control group have progressed using the methods they were going to use anyway.
It wouldn't be appropriate for me to give out information of the control group, since it would be very difficult to randomise results for three people in the control group. I cannot publish any information since it is impossible to do a comparison.

Shame to hear, I was really looking forward to seeing the results.
With this said, the main reason to why I decided to not participate myself was due to my track record. I'm fairly sure I would have been among the people not completing the study. Learning anything is a major commitment.

And so goes yet another attempt to "herd cats" on the forum. Self language-learning, by definition, is highly individual. We see this every day here on the forum. It's one of the main reasons why we never see any academic studies (perhaps reineke knows of some) done on what we do as individual self-learners. It's one of the reasons why group projects here rarely if ever succeed- TAC, group book reading, etc. People will study the way they want to study. We keep trying to get people together and quantify the, perhaps, not quantifiable... with the same inevitable results. At least you tried.

1945 version by Agatha Christie, 2018 remix by smallwhite...
Ten little Indian boys stood at the study's starting line,
One couldn't find an Assimil and then there were nine.
Nine little Indian boys sat up very late,
One caught a cold and then there were eight.
Eight little Indian boys travelling in Devon,
One couldn't find a tutor and then there were seven.
Seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks,
One caved to wanderlust and then there were six.
Six little Indian boys playing with a hive,
One had guests over and then there were five.
Five little Indian boys going in for law,
One prefered boating and then there were four.
Four little Indian boys going out to sea,
One landed a new job and then there were three.

Don't feel bad about it. This is no different than that phrasebook project.

But we had a progress-monitoring system. There should not be any surprises at this point - end of month 8. I don't think the 20 people submitted their timesheets diligently for 5 months and then suddenly MIA'ed after month 6. How many timesheets were received at the end of months 3 and 5?
