Re: Modern Greek Study Group

Hello, everyone! I am not a student of Modern Greek and am unlikely ever to become one. Nevertheless, I have been following the discussions surrounding this language both on the HTLAL and the LLORG for a number of years and, in the process, have been slowly building a file containing resources for the study of this language. In response to n_j_f’s request last week for suggestions, I recklessly replied that I would try to cobble together the elements of a “Modern Greek Resources” thread over the subsequent few days. Silly me!
To be honest, creating the list of resources took very little time at all. However, as a lifetime member of the OCD Club, I was incapable of simply publishing the list without adding lengthy editorial comments, an effort which absorbed a disproportional amount of time! Hey, I’m 72 and I’m not likely to change anytime soon, now am I? In any event, I have completed a goodly-portion of the list under the following discussion thread.
Modern Greek Resources (version 1.0)

I read through your Study Group’s comments and extracted any recommendations that I thought others might appreciate seeing in the above list. Because there are so many online resources for the study of multiple languages, I left these out and, instead, have referred the reader to your Study Group. I should be able to complete the final sections of the above file over the next few days. In the meantime, you are invited to visit the thread (caveat: the editorializing rambles on … and on … and on …) and add your own comments. Ciao, for now!
PS: I was also pleased to read that some of you have had the courage to brave the DLI and FSI courses … puts hair on your chest!
