Γεια σας! Με λένε Johanna and I've been studying Greek on and off (more off than on) for about 2 years. I'm still very much a beginner, hoping to be conversational by the summer now that I'm finally gonna study it on a regular basis.

Currently, I'm only using Duolingo and Mango Languages, but I plan on re-starting Hippocrene's Beginner's Greek, Michel Thomas and the F-L-R course. I've also started Goldlisting some of the sentences from Duo and Mango.

What I'm missing right now is some TV shows to watch. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the group, Johanna. Wishing you all the best in your Greek journey - I just finished the Michel Thomas yesterday and found it really useful. I was interested to read that you use the Goldlist method, as it has served me very well over the past 2-3 years, especially with writing Greek and some Russian by hand.

Χαρά αγνοείται is a great series, probably one of the best I've seen so far.

I used to do (and still do) Lucas's bi-translation method, but once I translated back into my TL I never saw those sentences again. The GM gives me some continuation for those sentences. I consider it a must for languages with a different writing system.

Hi there!

first post ever on this forum. Very glad I found a Greek study group! I am currently using assimil + language transfer and I started a few months ago. Let's see where this takes me.

Looking forward to read about your progresses and share mine.

Cheers.

Benvenuto/a Sunday! Sounds like we started at very nearly the same time. I've done LT and I'm now using Living Language. What's the Assimil course like?

Good for vocabulary and practice. I would say it requires some pre-existing grammar knowledge or the difficulty spikes up too quickly. Dialogues are not super exciting but still ok!

Sounds pretty similar to Living Language then. I'm very glad I did Language Transfer first.
