BCS Study Group

Postby IronMike » Tue Oct 02, 2018 12:41 am

Oh yeah I did. I started it. Yes, this is a Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian (ok, and Montenegrin) study group.

I searched and searched...ok, I searched the two pages of "Study Groups," and didn't find one of these already, so I started it.

Now, for those of you out there studying this wonderful language, tell us your stories!

Thanks for setting this up, IronMike :)

I guess it might be worth linking to the threads of Croatian and Serbian resources, and also the thread for talking in BCS.

If anyone is using the Easy Croatian PDF, it has been updated today.

From now on, there will be 2 versions: one with just irregular forms (verbs, nouns of unexpected gender, personal pronouns) marked (i.e. underlined blue), and another (below) with all cases marked in examples by small superscripts (where the online version has color highlights; it wouldn't work if you print the PDF in B/W)...

You can improve it by adding a short recording (10-15 minutes) of several dialogues.

Thanks! It's easy to record (my wife is always willing to help me) but writing meaningful dialogues using very restricted vocabulary and grammar is a very demanding task.... this is in my plans, but it always gets delayed :/

I will take me a year or so to finally get to near-completion of it, there's still a lot to be covered. Just writing a short summary on the standard verb stress (in the chapter A8 stress) is going to take me a few months to digest available literature (which is in hundreds of pages)... a message to others: don't try this at home :P

59 Knowing and Telling: Content and Noun Clauses - more content, explanation on use of što, negation + an example added (a song)
60 More Useful Verbs and Verbal Patterns - explanations on translating phrasal uses of English get
71 Suggestions, Permissions and More Verbs - an example added (a song)
77 As If: Advanced Clauses - expanded, but yet under construction (working on the osim ako construction)

For those that would really like to focus on Bosnian, Montenegrin or the Serbian variants, and start with the Cyrillic script, I've started experimenting with making an adaptive site. A lot of work is ahead...
