Re: Esperanto Study Group
Amikumu just launched today. It's an app to help you find speakers of your target language in your area. It's only for Esperanto right now, but they will have all languages later.

Woo! Amikumu vivas! I have just sent a message to someone a mere 2km away from me. Let's see if he replies

It's amazing how many people have added themselves within the first 24 hours - there are more than 1 000 new users already

I won't find any Esperanto speakers/amikumu users (whichever is lowest) in my area, but I'll give it a try...

Re: Esperanto Study Group
So I've been on the search for L-R resources for Esperanto, after enjoying my three weeks of trying L-R in Russian using The Martian.
As we know, there aren't a lot of audio-books in Esperanto. I don't know about you, but I've read Alice in Wonderland enough already. But I have found some out there, from free to expensive.
Free:
Paŝoj al Plena Posedo by William Auld, is available for free in pdf simply by searching. I used to own this book, and might still back in storage in Usono. Anyway, a gentleman by the name of Luis Jorge Santos Morales has read out five stories from this book, ranging in length from 13 to 18 minutes. His recordings are free on his SoundCloud page.
Not free, but not too expensive
If you can get a copy of Tibor Sekelj's Mondo de Travivaĵoj, S-oro Santos above reads seven chapters from the book. The book is from 1990, so perhaps a used copy can be found?
Marie Boulton's Faktoj kaj Fantazioj can be found used cheaply, and the first chapter of it is read by Santos here.
Ivo Lapenna's Elektitaj paroladoj is a great book of his speeches while he was president of UEA. Some of his speeches I've found online, to include this one read by some guy named Val. He occasionally stumbles on some words, but his language is otherwise okay. I'm sure there are more out there.
Kinda expensive
Ivo Lapenna's Retoriko, a great book by itself, is kinda expensive. Worth it, as is his Elektitaj paroladoj. Anyway, Santos reads all of chapter 6 here.
Harry Harrison's La Kaptita Universo is available on mp3 at UEA's bookstore. You can get the book there as well. Together, you'll pay 15.90 euros.
If you find other sources for Esperanto L-R, please let us know! (But please, not La aventuroj de Alico en mirlando.)

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

The closest one to me is still 300 km away though. And my mobile is too old. I had to put it on my tablet instead. I'm going to have to consider getting a new mobile one of these days.
Edit: Someone just joined who's only 90 km away.

Naturally, I had to check the map to see where they might live. I'm guessing Trondheim.

I don't know if it's the same guy but I've just realised I know of an Esperantist who lives in Trondheim. I think he's a lecturer at a university there.

Re: Esperanto Study Group
The closest ones are 200 km from me (strangely enough, one of them seems to have relatives in my area), a few names I've seen before (in the Esperanto world or the polyglot world).
