Mine went well, in that I managed to do at least 30 minutes every day. But not so well, in that I'm not sure I've ended the month knowing more Russian than when I started

I have, however, booked my first holiday to Russia for June, so now I definitely have increased motivation to keep studying!

I'm sure in a few weeks you'll look back and realise how much you have learnt! It just doesn't feel like it in the moment.

And yes, an excellent motivator! :D I'm sure you'll love it. Where are you going? How long for?

I'm just going for a week in June; St Petersburg first and then Moscow. I'm alternating between being very excited and very nervous  I'm going to Kiev for a few days in May, so that will give me a bit of practice in advance :)

I am meant to be reading All The King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren for a book group and upon googling it, I have discovered that there is a Soviet mini series version - Вся королевская рать. Has anyone seen it? Is it any good? I am very intrigued now!

I watched none, by the way

I have also not seen any of them!

(I've seen some of the actors in other things, does that count?)

I've watched Бригада (#2 in the top). Never watched #1 even though I know more or less what that show about, as well as #4 Ликвидация, #5 Оттепель (but I've heard the song so many times! there was time it was everywhere) #10 Sleepers if my guess is right and it's Спящие. I know nothing about the other 5.

The only one I watched in its entirety is Brigada - I still remember the time when every teenage boy seemed to have the Brigada theme as his mobile ringtone  I've also been meaning to watch Liquidation and The Thaw for a while now. Haven't heard much about the others, I'm afraid..

Sex with ants? You know, there's always Кухня - the cream of the crop of mediocre TV.

I researched my series based on several of these lists and I only saw 2 from this list.

I watched Бригада (#2 ) & Ликвидация (#5). I really liked the first half of Ликвидация.

I gave up on Ликвидация about 3 episodes. I greatly preferred Ленинград 46.

However, I did like Ликвидация more than Бригада ...

As for Метод, give me a break. I forget the neologism for that new genre ... "gorn" (?). In addition to the gorn, I had recently watched саранча and seeing the same actress doing the same "flashbacks from a police interrogation room" all the time was annoying ...

How is that Sniffer show not in this top 10?

Granted, I only watched the first episode...
