Let's learn some words with humor!
I found this one year ago on social networks.
I'll try to translate it the best way I can.

Life Problem
Cheerful puzzle

At home, two pipes broke up at the same time: Hot and Cold (water).

From the cold water pipe, pours out in the apartment, 70 liters of icy water per minute,

And from the hot one, 12 liters per second.

Will the inhabitants of this apartment sink in icy water or boil?
____________

I wish I had these mathematical problems at school. It would've changed my mind on maths

How is everyone doing with their study? I am just about getting back into Russian again, but I suspect it will be a bit stop-start for a while.

Also, as a side suggestion, I know a lot of forum members are enjoying the app 'Drops' - might be useful for people for Russian!

I'm seconding the suggestion of Drops. I started using it (just yesterday) for Russian and I like it a lot. It's filling the gaps in my Russian vocab that my text book wasn't taking care of. The free version comes with 5 minutes of learning every 10 hours (iirc), and honestly that's just fine.

[edit to add] The Russian voice is a liiiiittle shouty, and after finishing the first topic (food) I can say they are probably not that extensive, but I'm still happy with the app.

I am in desperate need of a little more positivity in my life :) Anyone's got good suggestions for happy Russian stuff to watch? Comedies, or stuff like Kitchen would be ideal. Subtitles, sadly, are a necessity...

Cheerful Russian stuff isn't really my speciality.

You may be able to get some of the Soviet comedies with subtitles?

If you liked the humour in Иван Васильевич I think you'd like other films by Leonid Gaidai as well. Бриллиантовая рука is probably the most famous one, but pretty much all of his films are considered classics of Soviet comedy.

@brilliantyears

Here's a barrel of more uplifting Soviet movies that I've watched in the past and come to mind right now (you'll need to check if they have subtitles though):

Служебний роман (One of my all-time favorites - I absolutely love this movie!!)
(My wife and I watch this on the eve of every new year over a cornucopia of rich Russian salads and шампанское.)
(Scenes from this movie still seem to haunt me from time to time, but in a good way, most likely due to it being really rather silly.)

As recommended by vonPeterhof, many movies by Гайдай are perennial comedy classics:

Иван васильевич меняет профессию (Also posted by ilmari, but worth mentioning multiple times... ;) )

Here are a few more (I'm sure I'll recall many more once I hit the "Post Reply" button and am out the door):

Усатый нянь
Чародеи
Белое солнце пустыни (I never really got into this one or found it particularly funny, but plenty of other people seem to love it...maybe I should watch it again sometime?)
(Ok, I haven't personally watched this film yet, but my wife said it was fun...which means it's most likely a romcom with a wedding hiding in it somewhere.)

1990s:
(Definitely not my wife's cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and its sequel below, even when sober.)

(I never knew men could moan so much...still, this was fun enough for me to watch 3 or 4 times already!)

And here is a somewhat smaller selection of Russian comedy series I've enjoyed in the past:

Кухня (Barring Лунтик :?, I've watched more episodes of this series than any other - fast-paced dialogue and roller-coaster plot lines galore!)
(Despite catching very few words that slur from the corner of Нагиев's mouth, just looking at that man makes me laugh!)
(To be honest, I only watched a couple of episodes back in 2016, so the jury's still out on this one, but it was definitely much easier to follow with my toddler-level Russian than other comedies.)
(Once again, I haven't personally watched this series, but a good friend recommended the series to me last year, so I have it on my "check it out later" list...)

I'm probably altogether a little out-of-date now with regards to newer russian comedies (both movies and series), but maybe you can find something in my dusty collection above that catches your eye and gives you a reprieve from the more sombre and serious titles on offer.
