That's terrible.The poor teachers. It's no wonder there's a shortage of teachers in Germany. Who would want to subject themselves to such stress? What do you think the solution is?
Those that can afford it will send their kids to a private school.

Politics. Germany is divided and it's very difficult to do away with mistakes in education. Every Land has its own Ministry. Right now a wrong method of teaching writing , called "Lesen durch Schreiben", where phonemes that the child knows already are represented by letters of the alphabet : "FATI FÄRT FARAT". Some Länder have forbidden it, while others allow it insisting on its "merits", which is the fact that a child learns to write earlier but has to "unlearn" the mistakes inherent in the method painfully later.

Could someone recommend a blog in German that you follow? The topic itself is not that relevant. The best fit would be those that use informal conversational style. The same goes for websites that have collections of articles.(It would be best if reading one wouldn’t take more than 10 minutes or so.)

I'm enjoying Hotel Reviews in TripAdvisor in my Spanish learning. It is not exactly "conversational" but I would call it "informal" with a formal effort. It is short enough and you get little stories with good vocabulary as it is used in real life today.

I just thought of something else. I spend a huge amount of time reading the comments on articles in "Die Welt", a link to which zenmonkey supplied in his last post in this thread. These comments are informal, sometimes conversational and as long as the article doesn't have a little blue box that says "Welt+" next to the heading, you don't have to be a subscriber in order to be able to read them.
