Mark Twain wrote:Every noun has a gender, and there is no sense or system in distribution; so the gender of each must be learned separately and by heart. There is no other way. To do this one has to have a memory like a memorandum-book. In German, a young lady has no sex, while a turnip has. Think what overwrought reverence that shows for the turnip, and what callous disrespect for the girl.

HEISE's Telepolis online magazine has a good TTS-voice and translation function

https://www.heise.de/news/Biontech-Pfiz ... 32980.html

First click on the loudspeaker symbol (top right) to start the "Vorlesen, Wörterbuch and Übersetzung" functions

Once translated from German into another language, it can also read out the translation, which can be slowed down.

Here is a forerunner of the "Language Transfer" series from 1900. It's a short introduction into German for Lithuanians ("preußische und russische Littauer, sowie Szameiten"). It's in dialogue form, we have a teacher (Mokytojis) and his pupil Jons.

Tilsit 1900

Interview in Swiss German with the professor who proved the repeated withdrawal of glaciers, supposedly under the influence of the sun not CO2 growth.

Dass die Gletscher schmelzen ist nichts Neues. Christian Schlüchter zu Gast bei Reto Brennwald

The fact that glaciers are melting is nothing new. Christian Schlüchter as a guest of Reto Brennwald

The fact that glaciers are melting is nothing new, on the contrary. In the last 11,000 years they were often smaller than today. With this finding, the former professor of geology is at odds with the current view of man-made climate change. The reactions are correspondingly sharp. Climate scientists complain that Schlüchter's analyses are dubious and not scientific. But Christian Schlüchter has good arguments. For years he has been collecting wood from trees that grew under glaciers. These finds show that over the last 11,000 years there have always been forests where there are glaciers today. And from the early Roman period, when Hannibal crossed the Alps, there are no travel reports that mention the "eternal ice". Schlüchter does not deny that humans and CO2 emissions have an influence on warming. But he criticises the current climate models and insists that the connections are more complex than assumed.

There is another video in which Prof. Schlüchter addresses a German audience in Hochdeutsch but with a heavy Swiss accent.

Anyone with experience of Studio [express] and its Studio Express Kompaktkurs Deutsch (A1-B1) textbook by Cornelsen? It's supposedly based on the "Studio 21 method" and is an intensive three level course aimed at motivated and learning-oriented young adults. It claims to take students from A1 to B2 in 300 class hours and comes with textbook, exercise book, audio, and interactive exercises.

I fell for the temptation of joining a university course (A1-A2) and this will be the main material.
