It's not just Germany; it used to be IMDB TV and rolled out earlier this year in the US. I haven't tried to find non-English content on it.

The Rammstein song he mentions in the Lingq podcast, Du hast, has 442 million views on YouTube!

EDIT
I think the imitating of sentence rhythm/stress he suggests might be easier with (North) German & English than with other pairings. When I watched some episodes of Verbotene Liebe I thought the German sounded very English-like, the rhythm of it, they were just using the wrong words :-)

Further south this seems to change, Swiss-German being very different indeed.

Vorwort

May I ask a question here? I decide to ask here but not in my personal log, named something like "Daily sentence making and reading: Ger-Eng"); I hope that discussing it in public will also help some other members interested in learning German.

I received a correction from Kraut today, which I am very grateful for. (BTW I also look forward to any sentence corrections from anyone of you, both in English and in German. I'm learning German and English mainly by sentence-reading and making.)

This is Kraut's corrections:
Kraut wrote:
Zhong wrote:Sie hat einen Mann zwischen den beiden in ihrem Leben wählen.
Sie hat sich zwischen den beiden Männern in ihrem Leben entschlossen.
Wer wird sie wählen?

Sie hat einen der beiden Männer (von den beiden Männern) für ihr Leben gewählt.
Sie hat sich für einen der beiden Männer (von den beiden Männern) für ihr Leben entschieden.

I think the sentences Kraut gave means,
"She chose / has chosen between the two man for her life."
But I did made a very big mistake in my original traslation because the English sentence I intended to translate is,
She has to choose between the two man in her life.
(so that it can go smoothly then to my next sentence,
Wen wird sie wählen?
who'll she choose?)

So, based on Kraut's corrections, I've translated them again. Are they correct now?
Sie muss einen der beiden Männer für ihr Leben wählen.
Sie muss einen von den beiden Männern für ihr Leben wählen.
Sie muss sich für einen der beiden Männer für ihr Leben entschließen.
Sie muss sich für einen von den beiden Männern für ihr Leben entschließen.

And I do have a question now about "für ihr Leben" (for her life). I'm not sure but in my English sentence, one with "for her life" sounds to me like having a different meaning than one with "in her life", although the difference is somewhat subtle.

She has to choose between the two man in her life.
There are two man in her life. (She knows two man.) She has to choose one between them.

She has to choose between the two man for her life.
She has to choose a man for her life. The man will be one of the two.

If my understanding in English is correct, and if the meaning goes the same in
German, my question is,
Q: maybe I should translate it as "in ihrem Leben" but not "für ihr Leben"?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

P.S. another Q: Are both the two sentences correct?
Wen wird sie sich entschließen für?
Für wen wird sie sich entschließen?
Who will she choose?

Zhong, a Chinese from Taiwan.

This should sound best, putting "in ihrem Leben" to the front, "sich für einen Mann entschließen" is wrong.

In ihrem Leben muß sie sich für einen der beiden Männer entscheiden.

Who will she choose? = Für wen wird sie sich entscheiden?

Olly Richards talks with Michael Schmitz of "Smarter German".

He advocates using the mother tongue as a helper. In his courses he uses English as a compromise to cater for the different nationalities in his courses.
His method explained from minute 8:45.

Spaced Repetition System & Active Recall

In Spaced Repetition Learning, we usually also use "Active Recall". Active recall is the conscious engagement with the learning material. If you only read texts and mark relevant passages, you are not dealing with the material intensively enough. After all, the knowledge has already been written down in exactly the same way.

Nevertheless, marking is not bad. You can ask yourself questions about these relevant terms. This has several advantages: You can specifically ask for the information in the text, formulate the knowledge in your own words and notice if the text has not yet sufficiently explained a question to you.
