Mark Twain wrote:Every noun has a gender, and there is no sense or system in distribution; so the gender of each must be learned separately and by heart. There is no other way. To do this one has to have a memory like a memorandum-book. In German, a young lady has no sex, while a turnip has. Think what overwrought reverence that shows for the turnip, and what callous disrespect for the girl.

HEISE's Telepolis online magazine has a good TTS-voice and translation function

https://www.heise.de/news/Biontech-Pfiz ... 32980.html

First click on the loudspeaker symbol (top right) to start the "Vorlesen, Wörterbuch and Übersetzung" functions

Once translated from German into another language, it can also read out the translation, which can be slowed down.

Here is a forerunner of the "Language Transfer" series from 1900. It's a short introduction into German for Lithuanians ("preußische und russische Littauer, sowie Szameiten"). It's in dialogue form, we have a teacher (Mokytojis) and his pupil Jons.

Christoph Jurkschat: Kurze deutsche Grammatik oder Sprachlehre für preußische und russische Littauer, sowie Szameiten zum rechten Erlernen der deutschen Sprache. Tilsit 1900
