“Finnisch mit extra Mühe” -- a group learning project (because Finnish wasn't hard enough before)

An area with study groups for various languages. Group members help each other, share resources and experience. Study groups are permanent but the members rotate and change.

Quite enjoying this site here. Kalevala, but with lovely illustrations. Has a page with illustrations of characters and a brief summary of each one. Finnish, but also has Estonian, and I think Swedish?

Monkeying with my VPN, I managed to get this on Netflix in Finnish, Mehiläisen Elokuva. I use ExpressVPN, and I'm not sure what's going on, sometimes I get errors about using proxies, but then today I'm watching Finnish movies on Netflix.

Language-wise, it's pretty challenging. Has captions and audio in Finnish, and they are completely different.

”Reijo löysi Suomesta 1200 vuotta sitten haudatun kolmipäisen kotkakorun – vastaavaa ei ole aiemmin löydetty”

This one I'm sort of working on this weekend, kind of scratches my itch on why I'm interested in Finnish. Kotkakorun, eagle jewelry, -- 1200 year old eagle Jewelry found in Finland.

I realize this is a completely pointless metric, but I'm starting to show up on the high score list at clozemaster.

Not sure if I've seen this posted here. I keep going back to this site. I find it hugely useful for untangling Finnish conjugations. Paste in your word, and it'll find the roots and tell you the parts of speech. Seems pretty correct, at least as far as my knowledge of this language is.

Wow, way to go. Meanwhile, some others struggle to get in any language learning progress.

For me, the Clozemaster feels like a good match for where I am with Finnish. It makes me look at sentences, specifically verb forms and cases, rather than individual words. It's not so hard that it just feels impossible. This site with Japanese, it's just a little too easy, I think. For the most part, I'm pretty well motivated, especially with the solitary grind type studying like this. Going out and meeting people, that I have more trouble with.
