Splendid! That's what I hear too and I also spooled it back to listen a second time. I was sewing buttonholes at the same time as watching (or listening), but sometimes full attention is required.

I'll give the whole as I heard it:

- Moi j'aime tout ici...
- Mais il faut qu'on fasse nos vies Delphine (her name, which I should have said) On n'est plus des gamines maintenant.
- Ça compte pas pour toi tout ce qui s'est passé?

Hélène et les Garçons, was really popular in Russia during 90th,but looks like there are no accurate french subtitles for it.
Do you know tv series which has accurate french subtitles?

Maybe some people here are already familiar with this youtuber? I've only seen this video, but there were loads of her videos in the sidebar. I thought it would make a good addition to this thread because at certain moments the girl and her sister speak completely naturally and for anyone missing stuff little boxes pop up with key phrases.

I thought she (Elsa) looked familiar. She has a Hebrew learning channel, "Piece of Hebrew," with her partner. It documents, among other things, her own Hebrew studies. So obviously she can look at language learning from both perspectives and shares those perspectives in an interesting way for someone like me, studying both languages.

There's a very interesting idea that I've heard from different sources: some say that reading is the key skill. This would mean that fluent and accurate speaking can be attained through reading an insane amount. I feel it's mostly true for my native language, those who have read a lot are usually good speakers, but I don't know if it's true for a foreign language. Any ideas?

Sorry, I'm late to the discussion and probably have no business participating, but my experience with both my native English and with L2-French is that reading helps writing, while listening helps speaking. I don't detect a lot of crossover between reading and listening except when reading the transcript of something I'm going to listen to. In other words, reading one source doesn't help my aural comprehension of another source.

Interesting podcast about the build-up of Gaelic speakers in Northern Ireland also as a carrier of culture. Also worth listening to for the Irish people speaking French.

Someone sent this to me today. Topical and useful I think.

An interesting 4-minute snippet on France Inter about Dante being claimed as the father of the right-wing... It's less than 4 minutes actually because the rest is about John Deere relenting and allowing customers to fix their own tractors..

https://www.radiofrance.fr/franceinter/ ... 23-8495239

However the point of this for this thread is that quite often when Radio France has a written article version, which acts a bit like a transcript (or semi transcript) as here, there are deviations. If you listen to the audio and read the bit under the heading: "Parler de droite et de gauche pour Dante n'a pas de sens", the written report has: Mais au delà de la querelle politique, les historiens aussi s'y mettent. Yet the audio says: les historiens aussi s'en mêlent.

Similar sort of meaning, but not what the reporter said. I think it's worth knowing this for two reasons: to be aware that when you think what you're hearing and what you're reading dont appear to be the same, sometimes that is actually the case. And secondly because is more common than might be imagined and even in dialogues in official learning resources.

"S'y mettre" is also often used like we'd say "knuckle down" in American English, i.e. get to work on a task that you may not like.
