No currently studying any Celtic languages, but always on the look-out for articles on Celtic linguistics. Found this one recently and really liked reading it. Enjoy!

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

Did you know there was an Irish translation of Game of Thrones? It's called Cluiche na Corónach.
Does anyone happen to know if the translation is any good? In that case, I'd be really interested to read it!
Seo chugainn an Geimhreadh!

More news! The second volume of A Song of Ice and Fire as Gaeilge is apparently already on the way:
Tús curtha le haistriúchán Gaeilge ar an dara leabhar sa tsraith Game of Thrones

If I remember correctly my latest Irish teacher, who has very strong opinions about Irish translations (Harry Potter: very bad, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: very good), said she's not sure herself but she's heard good things from people whose opinions she trusts. At least I think that's what she said...

Go raibh maith agait, a chara! Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duitse! (I just played a few tunes on the button accordion, including the jig St Patrick's Day.)

Re: Celtic Team - Study Group
Hi all,
I'm looking for some resources regarding learning Scottish Gaelic. My partner is of Scottish ancestry and has been wanting to learn Gaelic for a while but is unsure of where to start. Any suggestions/reccomendations?
Many thanks,
-K.J

Welcome to the forum!
Cainntear is one of the knowledgeable members here - hopefully he'll see this topic. Last summer, he had a group of test persons learning basic Gaelic through his own material.
Learn Gaelic is a good start. There is a Beginners section with the usual theme based lessons. Under Use Gaelic you'll find annotated or bilingual resources such as Litir do Luchd-ionnsachaidh and An Litir Bheag (both also available through the Gaelic language BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal).
The language is available for free at Glossika. (More about their free resources here.)
Apart from this, we have Teach Yourself Gaelic and Colloquial Gaelic. Both are pretty good textbook courses. Not too grammar-intense.
Oh, I almost forgot this list of resources:

Wow! Thank you so much for your help, these all look great Excited to look into them all. I had heard of "Teach Yourself Gaelic" with mixed reviews. I picked up a copy of "Teach Yourself Spanish" at my local library. I suppose I'll see how it goes before looking into the Gaelic version. In the meantime, these other sites look like a great place to start
