Just come across another Assimil reference:
quote from "Djodjo", a short story included in Le petit Nicolas (ISBN: 9782070364237).

Something pragmatic: some help if you get sick in France.
What to do if you get sick in France.
Medical Questions and Questionaire
Provided by Camille Chevalier-Karfis of FrenchToday, a commercial business (which I have no affiliation with). She publishes a weekly newsletter, and occasionally I find it useful.
The first reference will lead you to a video by Camille. She speaks slowly and enunciates clearly and besides gives running transscript in English. So not hard to understand.

I have been a long time follower of Camille and find her very helpful.
She continually tries to help people move away from "text book French."

Yes. She does seem more aware than many teachers that the spoken language is so different from the school language. I nowadays read in full only every 4th or 5th newsletter, but they have much of value so I prize them.

My first year of French is over, now I am in my second year. :o I have already completed the book/exercises of „À Plus Charnières B1“. That went faster than planned, it was quite interesting, though not much of a challenge.

There are still two and a half months to go before the DELF exam, so I decided to improve my oral and written skills. After a long day of reading uncountable teacher/tutor profiles on various sites, I found a suitable online teacher on verbling, who speaks neither English nor German. I booked a free trial lesson for the following day and after 30 minutes I was convinced that we can work together.

We use Édito B1 as our working basis. I prepare the lessons on my own and during the online sessions we discuss the texts I have written and do the oral tasks together – now I finally can practice the darn role plays  and he is not making it easy for me. This week we will have finished the first unité and I have to admit, the lessons in Édito B1 are dense but I do enjoy it. There are a lot of interesting things to learn.

se manger le sang > to be very worried / eat yourself up with worry
