Anyone got favorite "canonical" French authors for someone looking to get into famous literature? I've heard that L'Etranger is relatively simple, any other recommendations?

The (theatre) Festival d'Avignon, scheduled for July, was cancelled this year. There is an audio/video 'rêve d'avignon' instead.

Thought I'd share a well-known classic.

I just read Les Malheurs des Sophie by Comtesse de Ségur. At present, I'm about 40% through Les Petites Filles Modeles, the sequel.

Je l'aime.

So, I bought the book on ebay:

A partir de 1915:

Avec 114 illustrations (also, take a look at the thick stitching):

Easy to read text:

I like old books better. :)

There's a Maigret adaption starring Rowan Atkinson in the title role running on UK TV channel ITV.com at the mo'.

I like the closing music 'Maigret Finale' by Tracy Kashi, which has a teeny tiny bit of french.
