I was surprised to hear your accent. When you said "abominable", I wasn't expecting "oh, she actually sounds really good" level speech. :S

There were, however, a few things that you might want to look into. I don't know if it was nerves or if you routinely mispronounce these words, but I thought I'd just point them out anyway. You seemed to be lightly pronouncing the "d" at the end of "allemand" (it might have been background noise, though). You then go on to say "une entreprise amande" and not "allemande". And finally, you also pronounced "demandé" as "démandé". The first "e" should either be pronounced the same as the "e" in "le" or it should be dropped completely.

There was also a little grammar blip at about 20 seconds ("Elle ne la peut comprendre pas ça"?) where you could say "Elle ne peut pas la comprendre". The negation should surround the first verb and the object of the second verb should precede the second verb directly.

I wanted to ask for recommendations for audiobooks that you personally enjoyed a lot. I have an abonnement for audible.de which has many of the French titles, but I haven't been able to find anything that keeps my focus on the story.

I have read 22/11/63 by Stephen King. It's on Audible in french and I found the narrator to be really pleasing to listen to. I also found the story quite captivating. It is over 1000 pages long (about 30 hours of audio if I remember correctly) which is an advantage since you get used to an authors way of writing. The book is divided into different parts which have quite different topics they focus on (while still having a main topic) which for me makes it easier to re-read. The story is about a man travelling back in time to save J.F. Kennedy from being assasinated. If you have read other Stephen King books, this is quite different from his other books, but I think it was different in a good way. The audio also closely matches the written version and is quite similar to the english translation. I have read the book in english while listening to the french audio and is now 1/10th through reading the french while listening to the french audio. It's written in 2011 so the language should be modern enough.

I just realised that you might want french books and not french translations of english books, if thats the case I haven't got any reccomendations.

Salut!

Thanks! Some days I sound more German than that, some days I manage to string full sentences together (easy ones), some days I stutter and blush and gesticulate and let the other person guess what I am trying to say =Dv
As for the accent, I guess it's because French is my fourth modern foreign language that I simply have more options to approximate the French sound, even though my level isn't that high?

Yes, I simply have wrong mental representations of some words/sounds; for example I tend to treat -ll- like -y/i- as if it was similar to Spanish. Same for demander, and many of the silent letters. I probably should spend more time shadowing ...
The last part was what I meant that I need to learn to use pronouns, because I tripped myself up over it.

Thanks, Loke!

Sadly, I don't like Stephen King. I read a handful of his books in German and English and while I thought Carrie was kind of okay, I can't remember liking any of the newer books I read or started reading; not the way he develops his plots, his characters, nor the devices he uses to tell his stories. Maybe he has written books I might like but I'm just not willing to try any more of his books, particularly not as an audiobook because I'm even more picky when it comes to audio.

On a different note, I did start listening to Les Trois Mousquetaires by Alexandre Dumas. The speaker who did the librivox recording starts out kind of weird, she sounds a bit faint and floating, pronouncing more silent letters than I am used to, and especially in the preface she made pauses after short groups of words, even when the next word was part of the clause. I am not sure about it but it seems like she was trying to convey the age of the text that way? Either way, starting from the first chapter she seems to get used to it and her prosody and the way she distributes pauses make more sense, make it easier to understand the text. And I kind of got used to her reading voice. So heads up for that recording.
