Yes, it is always fun when something like that happens. Where does that little joy come from, I wonder?
Very impressive regimen of study. I wish I could make better language-learning use of exercise than I do. I use a treadmill, not a bike, but I have a hard time concentrating on reading or listening even to my native language

Thanks for your kind word, mork!

That little joy must be a special gift for us language enthusiasts to reward our studies.

The bike makes absolutely no noise and I wouldn't survive one minute of pedaling without mental stimulation. So for me it is the other way round, the listening/watching is the biggest motivation for me to get on the bike at all. There is a holding for the smartphone which makes it very convenient to watch or listen. I also considered buying a treadmill, perhaps next year … is it really that noisy?

It doesn't seem very noisy to me, but I use one at the gym, so maybe other noises in the gym drown it out. Also, I am listening to music at the same time. And if I have to turn up the volume of the music, it is so I can hear over the other noises in the gym, not the treadmill.

Just a reminder to people that PodClub is shutting down:
PodClub says goodbye; the time is ripe for something new
Podclub.ch as well as the PodClub app, however, will still be available until December 31, 2019.

Times have changed
The Club School has done pioneering work with PodClub: the first language podcasts went online in 2008 as a novelty. Over the last eleven years, more than 1,500 audio broadcasts have been produced in German and Swiss-German, French, Italian, Spanish and English, and today language learners are asking for new, innovative ideas. The Club School Migros focuses on the developing offers of future language learning. Online language courses, combinations of online and offline learning, short and modularized courses and learning with virtual reality all strengthen and expand the versatile language offered at Migros Club School.

The podcasts are on soundcloud.com/podclub
Of course, the existing podcasts will remain accessible after the end of 2019. From November 1, 2019, the last 30 episodes will be available on soundcloud.com/podclub. This means you will still have the opportunity to immerse yourself in your favourite language at any time.

Thank you for your loyalty and we wish you a lot of language learning fun.

Best regards,
Your PodClub Team

Since I am a follower of L'Avis de Marie I am downloading her files-totally legally- in preparation for the termination. It is a very time consuming exercise, so if you use Podclub, leave yourself plenty of time to do what you want.

If you have an iPhone or iPod, you can ease the pain of downloading by getting the PodClub-Learning Languages app.
Open the app,
Choose > French > L'Avis de marie

Then subscribe to L'Avis de Marie and start downloading.

Obviously you also can subscribe to Balades.

I found listening to Balades to almost be the same as listening to a friend talk in a coffee shop.

Wouldn't it be nice if other leaders stepped forward to say that.

For those that have used the CLE International "Progressive" courses - which of their courses did you find the most useful? There are so many that I'm not sure where to start.

I've been invited to attend a conference in Marseille this summer (my first international conference!), and I really want to bring my active skills up a few levels before then. I'm confident with my passive skills (reading, listening), but everything else needs work. A lot of work. When I travel as a tourist I usually stumble around for a few days before I re-learn how to speak. This round I was to get off the plane speaking with confidence.

If I had the time and money I'd go for one of each: phonétique, grammaire, vocabulaire, and communication. The previews of each all look useful in their own way.

In case you didn't see it, Cavesa wrote quite a long post about those courses just a couple days ago.

Oh. Wow. Thanks! I missed that one, which pretty much answers all the questions I had.

Amazingly, and by pure coincidence, I had made a list for myself of all the potential CLE courses that I was interested in ... and they are all the ones Cavesa recommended. The CLE site is a bit of a headache to find things on, so here they are for anyone else looking:

Maybe in these circumstances some language exchanges or Italki sessions would be more helpful than books?

Just wanted to share a link to the transcripts of the french dub of charmed season 1-6. I've seen buffy and simpsons getting mentioned a lot but I've never seen Buffy (I will check it out one day!) and I don't want to learn French from the Simpsons (I don't like it that much) so this was a great find.

http://charmed.fantasy.free.fr/charmedfantasy.html

I came upon the site by searching text from the transcript of a charmed ep on hypnoseries https://www.hypnoweb.net/ hypnoseries only had transcripts for some eps. learning french from charmed using the transcript, gaming mouse, potplayer, autohotkey, officelibre calc, anki, subs2srs (to generate audio for listening to the eps and not to make subs2srs anki cards since there aren't any french subs that match the french dub. I watch the eps in English before learning from the show using potplayer) has been great.
