Hello!

I just posted on the TAC sign-up thread, but I would like to join Les Voyageurs please. I have completed French with Ease Assimil via the 6WC in November (as linguchan) and in the upcoming year I would like to focus mainly on listening and reading comprehension. I will do my best to be an active member and encourage and aide my fellow group members, though my level is currently that of a beginner and I'll more than likely require more help than I can give. Good luck to everyone in their 2016 endeavors toward French fluency :)

For starters I would like to set up the learners bar graphs for my study plan but am not sure where I go to do so. Could you advise?

Check the FAQ it gives examples.

TAC stands for "Total Annihilation Challenge". it usually starts at the beginning of the new year. If you join, you are supposed to commit to studying the language for a full year, learning all that you can. You must start a log and put those three letters T-A-C and the team name somewhere in the title so that other team members can find it. You must also commit to reading other team members' logs. Along the way there will be team challenges (nothing too challenging) and you should provide emotional support and encouragement to team members who may be faltering.

In practice, TAC seems to me to be about social interaction while learning a language. People get really excited at the start of a New Year and have really good intentions when starting/joining a TAC team, but the good intentions typically don't carry through over the long term. Typically, the enthusiasm tends to wane by the end of January and few teams are left standing by the end of February. Even fewer teams are still around by the end of the year. Then, it starts all over again. Who knows? Maybe this year will be different...

Edit: That being said, it can be a good way to make friends on the forum and get into the habit of reading other people's logs. Or, you can just do that anyway.

My first recording for the Output Challenge is on my language log. I was very, very nervous. At first I may upload them frequently, but later it will only be once a week. I'm going to do another one this afternoon.

Edit: I have taken down my recording until I find out if it is a copyright violation. :(

I started a thread in the Mulitlingual Room named Cette Semaine en Français. I shamelessly stole the idea from a post by tangleweeds. There is a long discussion in that thread about setting up a French sub-forum. One of the ways to demonstrate that it would be sustainable would be to participate in Cette Semaine en Français. And, remember, you can always post in French here !

I would like to join this esteemed group. On the other hand, I am reminded of Groucho Marx's statement that "I would not like to join any club that would have someone like me as a member". So I'm conflicted. Oh heck, sign me up!
