I discovered nifty Le Peit Nicolas animations on Youtube:

And it looks like a fan gave some of them subtitles (ouais!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_0uE2FMQEg

I found this in the French in Action workbook; is it a typo?

Les comédies italiennes ont l'air amusantes.

I had difficulty with this formulation many years ago because it seemed logical to me that the adjective "amusant" should refer directly to the noun "air" thereby yielding "Les comédies italiennes ont l'air amusant." However, my wife, une Québécoise pure laine, advises me that it is "les comédies" that are "amusantes" and not "l'air", hence the formulation that you came across in the French in Action workbook. So then, not wishing to provoke a marital dispute, I will stand by my wife's interpretation and will defend her position to the death (there are worse things than death, you know!)

It is strange indeed, but it seems to be the way it works:

Avoir l'air

2. Si "avoir l'air" a le sens "d'avoir telle mine, telle apparence" l' adjectif qui suit s'accorde avec "air". (Votre voisine a l'air accueillant).

DaveBee, thank you for sharing the video "Nicolas Viau: Situation linguistique du Québec et du Canada" with us.

Score (maximum of 5 stars)
Linguistic description: 4 stars
Political/historical description: 1 star*

*Numerous factual errors, a certain bias which I suppose is understandable, but absolutely no evidence of malice.

A+, Peter
