It can be: a potato, an idiot, 10,000 francs, a punch, or a nose.

Idiots always have a lot of names. I use Wikitionary frequency lists from subtitles, and regardless of language, every 30th word is a way to address an idiot and every 20th a way to swear at them.

With the idiots, I address them with different names and I swear at them in different ways.

With the frequency lists, I plug vocabulary holes with them. So, with Greek, I now know most words from 1st frequent to around 4500th frequent. Most but not all, aka holes. And I am currently going through 3500th frequent to 4500th frequent to look for new words to make flashcards out of.

Subject: Would anyone care to comment on the usage of œ in the French language?

I see in Wikipedia the following:
It is most prominent in the words mœurs (“mores”), cœur (“heart”), sœur (“sister”), œuf (“egg”), bœuf (“beef”, "steer"), œuvre (“work”) and œil (“eye”), in which the digraph œu, like eu, represents the sound [œ] (in other cases, like plurals œufs (“eggs”) and bœufs (“steers”)

1-Is it mandatory to type it that way?
2-Am not sure how to type it with my US-Intl keyboard.

Thank you.

Although the character is not present on the US-intl keyboard on Windows, if you have a number keypad you can type it using Alt + 0140 and Alt + 0156 for the uppercase and lowercase letters respectively.

No, "oe" is okay, except perhaps in official documents.
You can also write your messages in word/libre office: the "oe" and "ae" are corrected automatically and then copy/paste.

Thanks.

I have the US International keyboard (Windows 10) and I cannot type œ or Œ directly from the keyboard. I have to use Alt + 0140 and Alt + 0156. The rest of the keystrokes for the US International keyboard are shown here:

I hope this helps.
