There's a new English language biography about Émilie du Châtelet, who I'd never heard of before today :-)

The French have knock-knock jokes! Toc-toc-toc ...

------
I was watching a series called The Reunion, adapted from a Musso novel, when there it was, a knock-knock joke IN FRENCH!

(UK residents can currently watch the series on ITV's catch up service).

This one
"Karl Glass répare, Carglas remplace !"

I've heard on RFI, it's an advert, we have the same one in the UK, but it's "autoglass repair, autoglass replace" :-)

I'm currently watching a film called la crise est finie. The title song is performed several times in the film, and to me it always sounds like they're singing "finir" rather than "finie".

You can hear it 36s into the video, what do you think?

Sounds pretty much like /finiə/ to me, with the French schwa at the end, not the French /r/.
