You guys are really sweet. The poetics and dad jokes are definitely multilingual.

P.S. - I'd weigh in on the podcast thing! I don't really use them, I just listen to them. Interested to know how they might be used.

This is turning into a gathering talk request thread, isn't it?

For me, the poetics talk would be great. Of course, I won't be there, so I'll have to wait for the video.

I'm going to talk about LGBT and Polyglots again probably. Just because I am now the Gay Trans Polyglot Woman. Or some shit. (And if they accept my talk.)

I have been thinking about doing another talk. But I don't really know what to talk about. Mostly I think about technical stuff, because I'm a techy. But of course many people find it boring or nerdy. I was trying to brainstorm something to talk about. Similar to Zenmonkey.

  • Using online MUD games to help improve output in your TL
  • Tactics to use your TL when you visit a TL country. There is a thread around somewhere where I made suggestions about ways to get practice.
  • Free or opensource software to learn a new language.
  • The way of the lazy fist, how to learn a language, eventually.
  • Time management for language learning, or Using org-mode to change your life.
  • I have no interest in speaking to people, what the hell am I learning a language for?

I really want to try to do a speech in French. But would people be able to understand me, that is the question. Oh well, perhaps it is better to give it a miss this year. Although hopefully I'll have the results of our study complete, but I'd do that one in English.

I'd go to those too. I keep thinking it would be fun to play computer games, but I haven't done so since the early 90's and it's a completely different world now. I don't even know how things work or where to start. I feel out of my depth.

There are usually a few on time-management, organisation and goal setting, but either I've been unlucky in the ones I've gone to, or most of the lecturers have just read a book or two and think they know what they're talking about. They've all been a waste of my time. If you can do a better job, I'd be interested in attending.

The other ideas sound good too.

I'd listen to those!
I'd also like to hear a talk by you on your experience of learning French after Italian ...difficulties, differences, strategies, and interference.
