There are no direct flights between Sofia and Bratislava either, that's why I'm flying to Budapest. There are busses about every hour, only 8 euro in one direction IIRC.

Vedun wrote:Who else is doing to the Slovak challenge? I might have overcommited to it. By my preliminary calculations, I should have done the B2 level on slovake.eu by the begining of the event, only starting learning this month no less.

The lectures don't sound as interesting as I imagined, but it could have been a lot worse. In particular I'm quite interested in those visitbait lectures of the type "Learn more with less effort.".

No Slovak challenge for me. I had a look at the language a few months ago, but then life came in the way.

What about the lectures? Last year, I had the same feeling as you, and mostly listened to presenters I had heard before. I usually listen to at least one "Introduction to [language]" and someting in my minor target languages. Some lectures are in multiple languages. Those are fun too, regardless of topic.

I have just read the programme, and it has four simultaneous lectures all the way through so it will be even more difficult to choose than it has been in Berlin, where there where three simultaneous lectures. However the number of participants is also quite high (392 right now), so the risk (or chance) of being the only one in the audience for a lecture is slim.

I went with wizzair. Was lucky enough to get like what, about 15 euro for one of the directions. I've heard some not so assuring things about budget airlines, but wizz is allegedly the best of them. Oh well, I guess I will learn the hard way.

Still need to confirm my registration at the dorm hotel, but am only willing to do that after my finals are successfully over. There dropout period is only 48 hours before the checkin they said, I really hope they hold on their word.

Everything is suddenly super expensive for me. Apparently no one but ryanair flies to Bratislava from London :/ I think I'm going to have to borrow money from myself. I knew I should have done this way back when in January!

Look into flying into Vienna and then the short bus ride.
It is a much cheaper method of getting there.

Unfortunately that appears to be about the same price :(

I don't think Bangor, Maine is in the Czech Republic.

Previous years, members have written HTLAL or LLORG on their name tags. This year, our own Rdearman will give a talk so he'd better mention the forum. :) Other than this possibility, I don't know.

They've updated the program and it looks much more interesting now. I'm going to need a time turner. I hope they add some descriptions soon. In some cases, it's a little difficult to know what a talk will really be about just from the title.
