This looks fascinating - Montreal is only a 6 hour Greyhound trip from me (Toronto), too.

I will probably go.

My only concern is that by that time I'll only be fluent in English, intermediate in French, and very rusty intermediate in Spanish: would that be held against me?

Montreal, IMHO, is one of the loveliest of cities, and it is worth visiting just to ride the quiet, rubber-tired subway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Metro. If you know any French at all, and your pronunciation is based on Metropolitan French, then French Canadian will fascinate you, even if you can't quite understand it. :)

I attended the 2016 Polyglot Symposium as it was called back then and had a blast. There were a few teething problems because this was the first edition but it was just lots of fun to hear all these languages. I remember attending one conference where the speaker and people in the room switched between four languages with no translation.

It was also fun to meet people whom I had only seen on the Internet. And I find that polyglots are generally a cultured and intelligent group of people. I highly recommend going even if one speaks only one language, but be prepared to be a bit intimidated.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to attend this year.

Take him and cut him out in little stars
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world
Will be in love with the night
And pay no worship to the garish sun
