This looks fascinating - Montreal is only a 6 hour Greyhound trip from me (Toronto), too.
I will probably go.

My only concern is that by that time I'll only be fluent in English, intermediate in French, and very rusty intermediate in Spanish: would that be held against me?

Montreal, IMHO, is one of the loveliest of cities, and it is worth visiting just to ride the quiet, rubber-tired subway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Metro. If you know any French at all, and your pronunciation is based on Metropolitan French, then French Canadian will fascinate you, even if you can't quite understand it.

Re: 2017 Language Festival in Montreal
I attended the 2016 Polyglot Symposium as it was called back then and had a blast. There were a few teething problems because this was the first edition but it was just lots of fun to hear all these languages. I remember attending one conference where the speaker and people in the room switched between four languages with no translation.
It was also fun to meet people whom I had only seen on the Internet. And I find that polyglots are generally a cultured and intelligent group of people. I highly recommend going even if one speaks only one language, but be prepared to be a bit intimidated.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to attend this year.
