Outside Europe: Australia, Canada, India, Japan, US

I only counted those countries where I've stayed overnight. But all of them fulfill the 24h-rule easily: I've always stayed at least once for two nights or more.

added in 2016/2017: Poland, Hungary
added in 2022: Denmark and finally more parts of Spain

This reminded me of the fact, that I could finally update my list here too.

US:
Tracking cities here is going to be too long...so states:
New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. (okay, not a state, sue me), Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Iowa, Alabama, Mississippi (driving through), Louisiana, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Colorado, Minnesota

Consolidating my list and adding three more in bold. It's funny, I didn't travel much as a kid (I think I only left the southeastern US once on a field trip to Philly and DC) and never went to a foreign country until I was an adult. I'm clearly trying to rectify that now.

I got burned out of traveling after Italy in 1998; I did some trips after that but the joy wasn't there; so I got a non-traveling job and got married and became a stayer-at-home. We've done the occasional trip since, but it's harder to get away and flying is certainly less pleasant than it was, and honestly it was easier to plan as a single person.

lived/worked: US, Italy, Malaysia, Canada
longer/multiple trips (3 weeks+ total, sometimes over multiple trips): Germany, England and Scotland, India, Chile, France, Nepal, Egypt, Turkey, Israel
1-2 weeks: Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Mexico, Spain, Pakistan, Greece
less than a week: Singapore, Syria, Jordan, Thailand, Romania, Hungary
Passed through/day trip: Lichtenstein, Prague, San Marino, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, Argentina, Netherlands, Bethlehem

Thus far, most of my travels abroad have been for longer periods of time (3-6 months). Not a ton of vacations, mostly study abroad opportunities. We'll see how that changes once I'm done with school (hopefully for the last time).

I've been to 19 countries. Most of them are from Europe. My family and I had this tradition for several summers, we flew to Europe and visited at least 3 countries in 3 weeks.
