Back in the days I was on an online forum and chatted with people, who somehow started to use different nicknames in the chat than their forumnames. I was kinda disappointed I didn't have a nice nick to use in the chat and asked people to create me one.
They smashed up the Latin laetitia and another Spanish word into something that sounded nice. But it turned out everyone then just used tia instead, because it was more practical.

Later I used other websites or/and the IRC and it turned out that tia was often already taken. I could have added just a number or a _ or whatever to the end, but instead decided to doubble the i. It may be also around that time that I became interested in Finnish and making it more Finnish looking seemed like a good idea. (I'm really not sure about the timeframe here.) So somehow the version with two i's became my preferred version.

Only later I noticed that this is an actual Finnish first name, making it on Finnish websites a bit more impractical. :D

But basically it is just a very butcherd Latin word.
(Which also explains why I don't capitalize the first t. Though it's ok if you do, because I really got used to it.)

Even prettier than they say. Especially the many little fishing villages along the shores, the beautiful beaches, the lighthouses, the rolling hills and farms, the rural churches, and of course the red soil which is great for farming.

Mine is butchered & shortened version of 'Sæfinn':
https://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/S%C3%A6finn

In short, when I was at University, I started writing a novel, which I ended up completing a first draft for with NaNoWriMo. Some of the characters were of a Nordic background and I named one of them 'Sæfinn' after looking up names and I found I liked it and it had some relevent meaning because IIRC it is a combination of "Sea" and "Wayfarer". Dude owned a ship. I was really into Norse stuff at the time.

Though I never did finished redrafting, I kind of hated what I wrote because I kinda crammed a lot to meet NaNoWriMo goals. In one of those days I remembe writing 10,000 words and it was probably 10,000 words of crap. But I was behind schedule and needed to catch up.

And then when creating a character in an MMORPG, I needed a name and rather than faff about, I just took one from one of my characters. Then as I ended up playing the game a lot, it ended up becoming an online identity and has stuck since. And people sometimes just shorten it to "Sae".

I used to go by the name "Seppuku" online when I was a teenager, but since figured that naming myself after ritual suicide is probably not appropriate for all online communities, so 'Saefinn' replaced it. But I guess I was a little edgy as a teenager.

I was born in 1997 and was wearing a turtleneck when I made the username.

Pretty sure most Chinese speakers would interpret "Gaoling" without tone markings as "高齡" (old/high age) and not "高領", though, lol

My username is my son’s name (diminutive of Arkadiusz = Aro). Actually, I wanted to create an account using simply my real name but for whatever reason I just couldn’t do it no matter how many additional random letters/numbers I added to my name, so I went with the first name that came to my mind.
