The area around the central market square has most of the museums, including a the museum of the city and a musical instruments museum, and just one block away you find an excellent Archeological museum (which also has a Nubian section) plus a lavishly decorated Franciscan church - OK, maybe just a bit too much of a good thing, but definitely worth seeing. Those things will keep you occupied for at least one day. In season you can take a museum train out to the new Zoo in the Eastern part of the town, and if it is running this time of the year (it probably isn't) then there is a bus out there. The old zoo to the West of the railway has a good Tropical house, but the rest of the place looks like it is under liquidation. Around the cathedral (about halfway out to the new zoo) there are a couple of museums, including one which first show you a film (in Polish if you ask for it) and then you can have a look at the bottom of some kind of old wall. These are only a few of the sights of the town - you will find a lot of other things to keep to keep you happy. And that includes the main railway station, which has been turned into a shooping center.

There is a fairly large language exchange meeting every Wednesday in the central square. Be warned, it's in a cocktail bar and Polish shot measures are about double UK ones ;)
