first post of this thread is confusing
if 1 missed day = -7pts, how is it possible to get 30 points for January?
if 3 missed days in February result in 7 points (28-3*7), how come I'm told 2 missed days in January result in 15 pts (29-2*7) instead of 17 pts(31-2*7)?

guess I would have less of a headache if i hadn't missed any day.

Do I have the lowest score? Do I? :D

8 days - 4 missed days = -20!

Note to self: do not attempt to study right before bed.

You're right, the first post's examples are a bit wonky. It's impossible to have 30 points for January if you started on the 1st (though people started throughout January, so that one is possible for someone who started on the 2nd). And the example of 3 missed days in February giving a score of 7 is incorrect, based on the instructions in the main challenge thread.

If one misses 3 days in February, then one has 25-(3*7)=4. Because you get a penalty of -7 and also don't get the point for that day.

hummm.... I disapproved a new usrs post this morning because they just copied another post without seemingly adding anything of value. So I appologise to whoever that was, and I think you all should probably find a better method of scoring. (Did someone say twitter bot?)

To be honest, I'm not a fan of negative scoring...EVER...it's just really demotivating.

I feel that if someone puts time and effort into learning a language, they should be rewarded; not punished. Even if there are more missed days than good days in total, the result should never reset below 0.

Just imagine a computer game based on this principle? After a few attempts, I'd be forced to start the next game heavily in debt to the Grim Reaper and need to work my way through several levels of wait it out over several weeks filling in tax forms in Hades just to get back to the starting point again! :?

I am not a gamer myself, but if there is not already a computer game like this, there really should be one!

True enough...fighting your way back to the living through several levels of hell...sounds a bit too much like fun. I've edited my post to include something far more diabolical.
