No, because you don't get that point for the day you missed, and you also lose 7 points from the penalty. So it's 30-7=23.

Thanks for the explanation. So basically, we really lose 8 pts for each lost day. :o

Relative to if you had studied that day, yes. Really you lose 7, and also don't gain 1. :)

Hi Sarafina,

You have provided a score of 45. I was looking for your score at the end of January, for the month of January. I will assume you scored 31 for January, as that appears logical, but since you posted on Feb 15th, it is possible you missed one day (I don't know whether or not you have already studied on the 15th), if this is the case, please correct me. Thank you kindly for posting. At the end of each month, even if you post your score late, well into the next month, just provide your score for all the preceding month (and not the day you are up to when you post). Thank you again.

Sorry about that. I should have read it more carefully. Yeah my score at the end of January was 31. But I haven't missed a day because when I posted my score it was on the 14th February.

Well, looking at the list of non-responders so far, we could be looking at a severely reduced list of competitors. Of course, like I've said before it's not essential to provide your scores but it is strongly encouraged, so a good deal of the 20 people who are yet to provide scores may have dropped out, or may remain very much in the competition. Time will tell ;) The only way to be certain you'll defeat them  is to keep studying yourself!

I'll have one frying pan thanks and half dozen of those... yeah those... thanks, merci, dank je wel, danke, gracias

Interim report, partly for my own reference: 18th Feb was the first day I didn't manage to hit the 30 minutes, so current score is 31 (Jan) + 17 (Feb) - 7 (penalty) = 40 I think.

Tnx for reporting Neurotip. So your formula should be 31 + number of days studied (to clarify, not the date you are up to) - 7.

So, if you had studied 17 days in Feb, it’s
(31+17) - 7 = 41. If only completed 16 days worth of studying in Feb, your final number would be 40.

The main point I need to emphasize (to anyone here) is to subtract seven days from your actual score for the month, not the day you are up to. Thus, if you miss a day on Feb 19th you subtract 7 from 18, as 18 would be your actual score for the month at that point.

It seems then that the penalty is 8 days. Well yes and no. The penalty is 7 days off your score, and as you miss scoring any points as well for your actual missed day (or didn’t reach 30 minutes that day) by default, the total ends up seeming like 8 days penalty.
