I think I may try to write the prequel of a fantasy story or maybe a completely new story (I'm not sure yet). I'll try to write the whole thing in english (I usually write in spanish). I'll aim for a minimum of 10k words, but it would be great if I can reach the 50k of the official challenge.

I don't intend to write a fictional work in any language, but just for fun I imported the first page of my Language Learning Guide into Word. The total word count came out as 15.896, there are four pages and it took five days to put the whole thing together - but to be honest I did steal some of the content, mostly from myself. All in all I think it would have qualified as a rebel entry to the competition...

Oh, that is a wonderful idea! I always wanted to write something in a foreign language! I have done NaNo some years ago, but I wrote in Greek which is my native language. I want to participate!

May I actually participate with 2 languages? I want to try to write something both in English and in French! I think that I will write 20.000 words in English and 2.000 words in French in which I have never written anything.

I want to ask you something, actually. May I create a thread in the Multilingual room to post my work in small chunks? I feel a little bit insecure about my abilities, so I could use some feedback. Would I break any rules if I do that?

That is not against the rules.

Welcome! I've added you to the participants list at the start of this thread.

Good luck with writing two stories!!

November 1st is almost upon us! Y'all ready? Excited?! :D

I'm going to a local midnight kickoff party, myself.

I'm trying to decide what will be the least interrupt-y for not know a word while I'm in the flow of writing. Looking up words online (or even in a paper dictionary) would definitely break my creative concentration as it were…

Maybe I'll do sort of what I do for extensive reading (where I just flag the interesting vocab to come back to later). I could just keep a scrap paper with a list of words to look up, or maybe underline/highlight English stand-ins to replace later.

Anyone have other ideas?

I wrote 651 words in the first hour of November 1st! Woohoo! That's twice my daily goal for hitting my 10k target. :D

Now to bed with me, I'm tired!

I managed 460 words of my story in French. It was amazingly difficult and took over an hour. In contrast the English Nanowrimo, I completed my 1666 word target in just under 1 hour. I've also remembered why I don't like "pantsing" books. So much easier to write to an outline.

I managed to 646 words which is just below my daily goal of 733 words. I will write some more tomorrow for compensation. It was difficult but not as difficult as I initially had imagined. Of course the story is horrible. I plotted something some days ago, but I decided early this morning that the idea was too good to waste, so I will try to plot the story as I go. Stephen King writes like that, I will try it. I'm not aesthetically satisfied by the result, but it's not horrible I guess.

For the time being, I will post my work on the multilingual room. Every criticism is welcome!
