I’m mostly keeping up with my goal of about 5 hours per day total for all languages. I’m definitely getting tired of tracking though. Setswana is driving me a bit nuts because it doesn’t have really good materials. And I’m a little tired of Anki and Memrise. So when it’s all over, I’m going to take a couples days’ break.

I'd also like to note that those of you with really high hours counts inspire me to find ways to put more time into my language studies.

I'm finding since I'm pushing conversation and production that I'm putting in less time, but working harder and learning more. So certainly won't win, but I'm happy with my progress.

How is everyone else doing with the challenge?

I am doing way better than I thought I would: I am pleased to be in the top 10. : :D On the other hand, since I am now keeping strict count of how much I actually study, I am finding the numbers rather dismal: less than hour a day on Japanese on average. I need to find ways to change this up and get more minutes. I steal a reasonable amount of time on the commute.

I'm also finding the bot very convenient. :) I wonder if it's tricky to make my own? It's certainly easier to use than Excel, and more satisfying.

I'd love to see a year-long bot on Twitter. I find I am way more focused when I'm tracking my time during the 6-week challenges than during the off weeks.

All the code you need for a twitter bot is included in the Super Challenge Bot which is open source. Feel free to "roll your own".

...And here is yet another reason to learn how to program. I will have to learn the very basics before I know what to do with this.

A year-long challenge is too long, and month-long challenges compete with the 6WC...Maybe a season-long challenge? We could start the next one with the winter solstice.

Don't touch that code, it's not for the faint of heart. He just want to hand off the SC bot maintenance to someone.

And I'm reporting "done" for this one. Setswana was fun - I'll continue I hope (building a habit and all that...). I estimate about a little more than 4h30 a week which isn't really crushing it. I wonder where that will bring me in a year ....
