Ends: Tuesday, 11th Sep 2018 23h59m59s your time

Sprachprofi wrote:The 6 Week Challenge is a challenge to upgrade your language skills in one language from beginner to something more worthwhile, and to see if you can find more time to study languages when competing with other participants in a global highscore. 6 Week Challenges start on February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st every year, so there is a rough 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off pattern. Note that you can only do the 6 Week Challenge with a language that you're a beginner at or lower-intermediate at most. This allows for a more just comparison between participants.

ISO 639-1 codes here

The three tags #ie #multilingual #linguistics which are all grouped together as "Multilingual" on the scoreboard can be used if you don't want to differentiate between several languages.

Also available are: Nahuatl, #Ancient_Greek, #ASL, #Cantonese. I don't know what the tag is for Nahuatl.

Putting the word "yesterday" into a tweet, with or without hashtag, adds the score in that tweet to the previous day rather than the current day.

I don't know what language to enter with... :? I forgot about the beginner/low intermediate rule (I entered with German in the last 6WC in May, oops). The only language I'm actively working on that would qualify is Mandarin, but it's not at all a priority right now. Does this mean I am morally obligated to start a new language? ;)

I'm in for Mandarin!

I have about 7 weeks to go to finish my own 3 month challenge, so perfect timing!

What i hope to accomplish
1. At least 2 hours of studying a day, or 14-16 hours a week. Goal 85 hours. Stretch goal 100 hours.
2. 10 characters a day at least (to catch up a bit)
3. 3 Phonetic words a day if I can fit them in.

That should give me over 400 characters by the end of the challenge and maybe 100 more phonetic vocabulary words if I get lucky. Not sure what else i'll do in that time but i bet it will be helpful.

it's almost too bad i'm focused on characters right now b/c the speaking progress just won't be there, but I'll be an HSK2 reader reading machine when it's over. lol. Which will be helpful in the long run, so i'll take it.

I'm in. I'll probably need yet another twitter account as I cannot remember the name, password, or email tied to the previous one :-D

Language: German
Current level: I am a desperate eternal false beginner
Goal: An hour a day on average. That could make me feel like a winner and also help me move forward
How: My currently favourite huge green grammar book, Readlang, podcasts, Clozemaster, (Duolingo)
